Taxpayer funds polygamy: The Department for Work and Pensions has awarded households comprising more than one wife of pensionable age a 4.8 per cent benefit increase – per wife, according to the Daily Express. That means a man with several wives may receive up to around £400 extra per week. Voice for Justice UK points out that as polygamy is illegal in Britain, it can only apply to Muslims who have ‘legally’ married multiple wives overseas and then moved to the UK.
Reform council proposes Lord’s Prayer before meetings: Reform-led Kent County Council wants the Lord’s Prayer to be recited to start meetings, as well as singing the national anthem to end them. Council chairman Richard Palmer told the chamber: “We are a Christian nation.” The council’s Green and Tory leaders have objected vehemently.
